The Austin Chapter of the Associated General Contractors was founded in 1946 and is dedicated to the principles of Skill-Integrity-Responsibility. The Chapter provides services – including safety, advocacy, networking, education, and building information – to commercial construction firms working in the Austin area and is part of the AGC of America, the country’s largest and oldest construction association. What types of companies are eligible to join the Austin AGC?
General Contractor Membership is open to general contractors whose principal line of work is building construction and who have been engaged in the business of general contracting for two or more years
Associate Membership is open to persons, firms or corporations engaged in the capacity of a subcontractor, or in the furnishing of material, supplies, insurance, bonds, services or equipment for the construction or maintenance of building, either public, private residential or industrial. How does my company join the Austin AGC?
Complete the appropriate General Contractor or Associate Membership application and submit with first year dues to the Austin Chapter offices.
How much are Austin AGC annual dues and assessments?
General Contractor Members pay both annual dues (ranging from $1,000 to $4,000) and a one-time service fee (assessment) on each and every general construction prime contract and construction management contract awarded to them. The service fee is approximately 1/10 of 1% of the contract amount, and the maximum annual assessment amount (aggregate) is $50,000. Click here to download a GC assessment fee schedule.
Associate Members (specialty contractors, suppliers and distributors) pay annual dues of $875.
If our company is an AGC member elsewhere, do we need to join the Austin AGC as well?
Yes, as each Chapter is run independently and membership dues to the a local Chapter are used mostly for local industry services. One-time assistance for visiting AGC contractors is afforded as a courtesy.
What primary services does the Austin AGC provide?
Austin AGC services are primarily focused on safety, advocacy, networking, education and building market information.
Does the Austin AGC maintain a planroom?
No, plans and specs are available only in electronic format via iSqFt and can be viewed by members at the Chapter offices during normal work hours at no additional charge. iSqFt also offers subscriptions allowing contractors to view plans and specs 24/7 on your own computer.

Can the Austin AGC office space be used for my company training and other events?
The Chapter classroom, boardroom and executive boardroom are available at no charge for members conducting routine business such as outreach, safety, or other education. Parking and room availability are limited.
What Committees are available at the Austin AGC?
Safety, Activities, and the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) meet regularly, typically each month.
Does the Austin AGC support construction education in local secondary schools and higher education?
The Chapter support construction education efforts at Crockett and Lanier High Schools in Austin, and also supports the AGC Student Chapter at Texas State University.
Does the Austin AGC have a Politcal Action Committee (PAC) or a Corporate Advocacy Fund?
Yes, the Austin Chapter AGC PAC is funded by individual, personal (non-corporate) funds and supports candidates for the Texas House and Senate. Most of our PAC funds are sent to our state lobbying group, the Texas Building Branch for distribution.
