Since 2014 the Austin AGC has supported the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) established to fulfill the need to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the construction industry.
Following on the continued success of the CLC, in 2025 Austin AGC is launching an Executive Leadership Program (ELP) aimed at assisting mid-level construction professionals to learn more about the larger macro-issues that create opportunity for their career success and for the company they wil eventually lead as well. Among these issues include the importance of: legislative advocacy, construction law, risk management, economic development organizations, technology innovations, public speaking, developer and designer perspectives, and more.
The ELP will focus on the experience, including office visits with industry leaders. A limited group (maximum of 12 participants) will develop a civic and professional network and emerge with an increased knowledge of our industry’s diversities. In addition to enhancing their professional and civic networks, program participants will also learn what they can do to actively participate and to ultimately become an influencer in the affairs of the industry and the community.
The Leadership AGC experience consists of 11 monthly educational sessions and experiential learning. Beginning in January and ending in December, each session focuses on an integral aspect of the commercial construction industry specific to Austin and the surrounding region. Each session will likely consist of 15-30 minutes of networking, 60-90 minutes of presentation/discussion. Some sessions will include either lunch or dinner.
